Today I gave a presentation at the Keep Douglasville Beautiful board meeting.  I talked to them about what they can do to help, including networking, volunteering, and donating supplies.  It was a productive meeting, and I think that keeping in contact with the board will be instrumental in my community outreach.

Today, my parents went out and bought a trash can to donate for the collection of the bottles.  I made some signs, laminated them (courtesy of the School Box), and set up the trash can outside of Brighten for the bottles.  I also dropped off some of the brochures and sent Ms. Lisa McDonald (Director of Brighten Academy) pdfs of both the brochure and the bottle-collection flyer.

Hello everybody!  As this is the first blog post, I should bring you up to date on the progress of my project:

December 11, 2011: My Gold Award Project Proposal was accepted by the council
January and February 2012: Emails to various people, I set up an appointment with Keep Douglasville Beautiful and will present my project at the board meeting on March 20.
March 14, 2012:  I went to meet Mr. Gary Jenkins at the Douglas County Solid Waste facility.  He agreed to donate the tires for the foundation of the greenhouse, so long as they are disposed of legally.
